Do you like space battles?
If you like space battles, you will like Starship Operators. It takes these seriously, has its own sci-fi concepts, and tries to bring a range of styles and tactical options into play. If your into milscifi, give it a try.
However, it has other issues Its tries to adapt an entire light novel series in 13 episodes; character arcs, just like the ship, can surpass light speed. It sometimes has difficulties balancing its mix of tones.
Most significantly, the politics underlying the war and situation are actually well thought out. But you don't find this out until episode 10. Its a bizarre

The main appeal of the original Space Adventure Cobra was its trippy old school animation. Can Cobra work without it? Not quite.
Compared to the OVAs, this series has more interesting ideas, pacing and wild twists than the two OVAs. Is it dumb as a brick? Of course, but its usually interesting. The last two arcs- from episode 6 on- are the best material in the series- and since theres no continuity, for uncertain fans of old Cobra I'd just skip to there. Towards the Terra attempts to be an epic space opera that also asks questions about the nature of humanity and society. Unfortunately, it mostly fails.
Our protagonists are the Mu, mutant humans with psychic powers. Their powers wax and wane at the convivence of the plot, which also seems to drive their motivations. They just aren't very interesting to hang around, and unfortunately thats most of the series. The middle 12 episodes, especially, are quite dull as we watch the Mu do very little.
