Synopsis

Upon watching a breathtaking drum performance by Masami Imamura, second-year high school student Asuka Hirayama instantly falls in love with him. As she learns more about Masami, she quickly finds out that he is the older brother of her close friend Taisen. However, when Asuka realizes that the impressive drum player has a hearing impairment, indecision over whether she should continue pursuing his affection crashes down on her. Even so, Asuka remains determined to chase after the warmth blooming inside her.

Kingyosou narrates a young girl's endeavor to resonate with a man who has closed his heart to many people. Despite the many obstacles and heartbreak that come her way, Asuka slowly gets closer to Masami—one step at a time.

I read this manga series a long while ago several times, and even now, I find myself thinking about it on occasion. It's no masterpiece; the main character can be what some would call "annoying" every now and then and there are some cliche elements, but I find that the way it approaches romance is very touching and very real. Somehow, whenever I return to this series and read it, my heart is filled with nostalgia and happiness, and I find myself cheering for our heroine who fell in love with the boy who plays the taiko.

I appreciate the realness and lack of excessive frill ...

DISCLAIMER : Heart and your tears are subject to risk while reading this manga, so hold on to them.

One of a kind plot - deaf male protagonist and passionate female lead who connects to him with music (classic and fated lovestory). Story is short, crisp with elements of different emotions bundled up with a clean wrap up. Recommended for those who like pure, clean romance stories which has no fillers of any form and just deals with two people discovering themselves when in love.

The plot in this manga isn't that innovative, put it isn't the usual shoujo fairy tail either. The mail character isn't the typical shoujo prince, the female character cries here and there, but in situations that call for it... there is no unnecessary crying. The love story is realistic, it moves forward in a slow reasonable pace. Although one of the characters has a serious handicap (his can´t hear), there isn't too much melodrama... The main problem among the characters is that they need to learn how to communicate their feelings.

I really love mangas where Japanese tradition is shown, be it go, karuta, poetry, traditional ...
