Digimon Adventure

Either you loved Digimon, Pokemon, or both. For me, it was without a doubt Digimon and with this season my love for this Anime began. Each day before school, I watched the episodes and kept listening to the music over and over again. That was undoubtedly a beautiful childhood, unfortunately, childhood memories are always different.
That's why I sacrificed my childhood memories to watch that show again. This resulted in a very unpleasant disaster because as expected, it's far worse than you can imagine.
For kids it is still highly recommended, children are not interested in anything but an emotional story and that is exactly ...

Now that I've finally become a part of this site, I might as well get started, and what better to review first than my gateway anime?

Digimon Adventure holds a really special place in my heart. I still adore the story and characters, who were all really well-developed for a kids show. However, when it comes to looking at it critically, which I try to do with reviews, and how the first season of Digimon holds up against the rest of all the anime out there... It can't be ignored that this was a dirt-poor show. The character designs were simple, the backgrounds pastel blurs...

Digimon is one of my guilty pleasure anime. Sure it has enough predictable elements: several children are on a journey where they see various monsters a la Pokemon, Digimon are beaten to the point of defeat until their owner finds the power within to give them a boost to beat their enemies like many past generic action titles, and the enemies are shallow villains with no redeemable qualities with a desire to rule either the Digital World and/ or the human world. The English dub for it is also laughably bad at many points with Saban peppering in enough cheesy lines and jokes in its ...

As Nabokov once remarked in the first line of his superb autobiographical novel Speak, Memory, the cradle rocks above an abyss, and common sense tells us that our existence is but a brief crack of light between two eternities of darkness. I was one of those things that come into existence in a brief crack of light, and a few months ago did my mother slyly mentioned that an unfamiliar sight of a moving screen had rendered me crying for the rest of the day while I went back home for the first day in my life, and the programme that was shown on the ...

REVIEW WITH NO SPOILERS

I re-watched after a long time... i actually remember some stuff when i had 8 years old and saw for the first time this Digimon Adventure. And i really HAD good memories about it.

But after i re-watched i was confronted by an anime with a creative premise, but horrible and predictable story, horrible animation, horrible characters, and superficial dialogues.

If you show this anime for a kid with less than 9 years old, maybe it will enjoy it... but if you are a nostalgic guy like me who THINKS that will have some fun, PLEASE DON'T MESS UP YOUR

As a whole, Digimon is a pretty good, but very flawed, show. Unlike most, I actually do not consider it to be better than Pokemon- it is much more consistent, but the former does most things better than it.

Pros:
- The storylines are usually interesting, and there's several cool sci-fi episodes.
- Very consistent and not much filler. Most episodes are plot important in some way or another. I can count the filler episodes on at most two hands.

Cons:
- The show is usually not good at humor. At least in the dub most of the jokes are lame puns.
- The show is not really good ...

Probably the best thing I remember for Digimon 01 is the opening theme with its Di-di-di-di-mon, but there was a lot of parts that lacked. When I was a kid, I would sometimes stay home from school to catch that one episode before everyone else, but sometimes I found myself severally disappointed in the episodes. The scenery, especially when it was supposed to convey something in the distance, well it looked a lot like the background of a fish tank. Detailed a bit, but kind of tacky.

Character wise, it was very awkward in the beginning, even if some of the characters knew each other, ...
