Tennis no Oujisama: Zenkoku Taikai-hen - Final

After their victory over Shitenhouji Middle School in the semifinals, Ryouma Echizen and the Seishun Academy Boys Tennis Team must now face off against the two-time defending champions of Rikkai University-Affiliated Middle School in order to claim the national title. Rikkai is not only seeking revenge for its team's previous loss to Seishun at the Kanto Regional Tournament, but they also are aiming to win the national title for a third consecutive year.

In the conclusion of Tennis no Oujisama, the titular "Prince of Tennis" is pitted against the "Child of God" in a head-to-head battle for the national championship title. Along the way, Ryouma must teach his opponents and teammates that there is more to tennis than winning.

Story: 7

Finally we reached the culminating arc of the national tournament, and although it has maintained those constants of being very summarized matches as in its last 2 pre-queues, I have to say that the descending party leaves a good taste in the mouth and with a more consistent development winning so 2 full chapters in it.
I do not want to fall into a spoiler but the "certain event" that occurs at the beginning of the matches is quite pleasant to alternate and show something different from the usual, but there is the typical dynamics of the matches and giving a special flavor to the ... final, so good Plot twist of the mangaka there.

Art 8 / Sound 7.5

Items that personally meet quite well equally, in the case of the animation was more polished than in the semifinal OVA and did not get as much static image more than necessary. On the other hand, from the sound section if it has been renewed a bit since its first adaptation and obtains certain interesting variations during the chapters, along with regular but not negligible openings and closings

Characters: 6

By having a team here that already had the opportunity to face Seigaku, it saves a lot of time in presentations or development because we know their convictions as a team, although it does not mean that in some games these are too blurred like both pairs of doubles of the rival team . Above all, the most remarkable thing on this occasion is Ryoma, and not precisely because of his level of tennis that we already know, but because of seeing him more in other facets (that whoever seen these OVAs will understand) and above all showing that he can smile and enjoy tennis , something that until now on my part I had practically never noticed.

I'm not going to lie on this occasion the show raises its level and draws my attention to the program because, as I mentioned earlier, a twist in the story is re-sought and it falls like a fresh and renovating air within the monotonous show that it had been and how This also gets a change of aptitude in Ryoma, it is very gratifying, especially already closing with a flourish in the epilogue, so I am satisfied, although as you know I expected a lot more from this anime in the beginning, anyway we will continue towards its sequel "New prince of tennis"

Historia: 7

Finalmente llegamos al arco culminante del torneo nacional, y si bien a mantenido esas constantes de ser partidos muy resumidos como en sus ultimas 2 pre-cuelas, eh de decir que el partido descenlace deja un buen sabor de boca y con un desarrollo mas acorde ganando así 2 capítulos completos en el.
No quiero caer en algun spoiler pero el "cierto sucedo" que ocurre al comienzo de los partidos es bastante agradable como para alternar y mostrar algo diferente a lo habitual mas haya de la tipica dinamica de los partidos y dandole un sabor especial a la final, por lo que buen Plot twist del mangaka alli.

Arte 8 / Sonido 7,5

Rubros que en lo personal cumplen bastante bien por igual, en el caso de la animacion estuvo al mas pulida que en las OVA de semifinales y no obtuvo tanta imagen estatica mas de la cuenta. Por otro lado desde apartado sonoro si se ah renovado un poco desde su primer adaptacion y obtiene ciertas variaciones interesantes durante los capitulos, junto a unas aperturas y cierres regulares pero nada despreciables

Personajes: 6

Al tener aqui un equipo que ya tuvieron la oportunidad de enfrentar el Seigaku, se ahorra bastante tiempo en presentaciones o desarrollo por que conocemos su convicciones como equipo, aunque no quita que el algunos partidos estos queden demasiados desdibujados como ambas parejas de dobles del equipo rival. Sobretodo lo mas destaca-ble en esta ocasion es Ryoma, y no precisamente por su nivel de tennis que ya conocemos, sino por verlo mas en otra facetas (que quien alla visto estas OVA entendera) y sobretodo demostrando que puede sonreir e disfrutar del tennis, algo que hasta ahora de mi parte no lo habia notado practicamente nunca.

No voy a mentir en esta ocasion el show eleva su nivel y llama mi atencion hacia el programa por que como mencione con anterioridad se re busca un giro en la historia y cae como un aire fresco e renovador dentro del espectaculo monotono que venia siendo y como esto tambien obtiene un cambio de aptitud en Ryoma es muy gratificante sobretodo ya cerrando con broche de oro en el epilogo, por lo que me quedo conforme, aunque como ya sabran esperaba bastante mas de este anime en un comienzo, de todas maneras continuaremos rumbo a su secuela "New prince of tennis"

I will give my review here as a whole for my review to the national tournament arc

So the most arrogant and show-off sports protagonist returns together with his teammates to play in the most awaited tournament that they’ve been waiting for; the national tournament. The drama is even more far-fetched and can be extremely over-the-top; players are on the verge of dying just by PLAYING tennis, losing memories before an important game, bloods are spilling everywhere. I mean come on! I almost forgot that I am still watching a tennis story particularly, the finals arc. I completely understand that it’s going for a more ... dramatic, theatrical and cooler approach as it is after all the ENDING. However, there’s also the concept of TOO MUCH and being incredibly over done. Somewhere along the way, it becomes absolutely far-fetched. I notice that the comedy part really improves. It is no longer far-fetched and can be genuinely funny. And if there are several exaggerated moves and techniques from before, this time they even added stances with supposedly amazing auras which are extremely exaggerated.

Of course, as it is a new chapter it is given that there’s an arrival of new characters. As always, the opponents are arrogant as ever. And if last time there is quite a few nasty opponents, this time some are even nastier and barbaric because they would even resort to hitting couches and elderly people. Well, when opponents are like that it feels even greater when they are amazingly defeated. There are also character developments for not only the main characters but for recurring characters as well. Characters are more expressive this time particularly the ones with poker faces like Tezuka. Some opponents are a lot stronger now as we see some of powerful characters gets beaten or really push to the limit.

I believe the most noticeable improvement is the animation. As always, this series loves exaggerated moves and very fictional techniques during matches. And if in the last season it was made so over the top, this time it improves quite a bit. It is a little bit cleaner now. It looks better and cooler. It’s not that far-fetched compared from the previous season. It might still be exaggerated but at least it is done a little better this time. The improvement of the character design is also very noticeable.

It is true that as always there are countless exaggerated elements in the series. You could even say that it is even more this time. But I guess that just how the series is. I myself may not like that part of the series but I believe it is quite effective for some. And I enjoyed it more compared to the previous one.

I have lost the will to criticize this show… 7 episodes for the finals and one of them is filler. Plus for some reason Ryoma gets amnesia? And a style of tennis that makes you lose your senses? HOW RIDICULOUS CAN YOU GET?? I could probably do with a break from this show for a while but alas, I can probably expect more disappointment in the 43 episodes I have left to go.

On the bright side, at least the animation quality kept improving.

At the end of the day, if you’ve followed Prince of Tennis for the first 200 episodes, this is not a satisfying pay ... off. If anything, it just makes you more concerned that the quality of the writing will continue to deteriorate.
